The course curriculum includes five class meetings, seven field trips and a minimum of three basic experience climbs. In addition, you will be assigned to a Small Instructional Group (SIG) of approximately ten students and one leader, who will conduct two of the field trips and hold additional learning and practice sessions.
Meet your fellow students, SIG leaders, Climb leaders and previous years' students on Sunday December 4th from 5 to 8 PM at the Seattle Program Center. Food and beverages will be provided. Please let us know if you can join us by signing up online. We look forward to seeing you there.
All meetings take place on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Seattle Program Center. You are expected read the relevant sections of Mountaineering: The Freedom of the Hills - 8th Edition prior to each meeting.
Field Trips are hands-on opportunities to practice and/or demonstrate mountaineering techniques that you will need for climbs. You must attend one date for each Field Trip. You sign up on the Mountaineers.org website. Each date will accommodate 40 students and are filled on a first come first served basis.
